=====Making Contact and Presenting Yourself=====
Your initial contact should be by telephone. Immediately introduce yourself (to include student at Canisius, year, a psychology major(?) taking a class in school psychology) and your purpose (to have an in-person interview in order to learn more about the field). State that you are looking for no more than 30 minutes of his/her time and will meet him/her at any time/place that is convenient. Dress professionally, smile a lot, be appreciative, use eye contact, strive for a conversational interaction and not just question/answer.

Suggest on the phone that you'd like to send a copy of the questions you will address by email. Point out that answers to my questions are intended to go on the web site as a resource for other school psychologists, but that the remaining questions will be shared only with class members.
=====What questions are you going to ask?=====
Dr. Bayer's Questions:
-Which providers of services in the community do you use for outside referrals?
-What special intervention services do you offer in your building(s) that you think are particularly effective?
-What outside agency educational programs does the district use? Any impressions on their strengths and weaknesses?

Some questions our group came up with included....
1. What courses would you recommend taking in college besides the required classes that either helped you or would have been helpful?
2. Should we get our doctorate or a specialist degree?
3.What do you do each day?
4. How often do you interact with parents and what do you normally do with the parents?

=====Where do you want to go?=====
The first step in our project of meeting with local school psychologists is to determine the school district that you would like to visit. You can find a listing of almost all of the districts and school psychologists in Western New York at [[http://www.wnyspa.org/?q=node/19 this link]]. Browse the page, choose a district, and enter your choice below. No more than two people should go to one district. School psychologists who graduated from Canisius are in {{colour c="red" text="red text"}}

The next step will be to determine the kinds of information to obtain from the school psychologists. We will focus on certain areas and topics. These will also be shown on this page once everyone has picked a district to visit. So, //Open this page for editing and type in the locations and names of the school psychologists whom you would like to interview below the dashed lines. Give your reasons for choosing them. Finally, type in your wiki name.//
