Introduction
Greetings. My name is Dewey Bayer, and I am a Professor of Psychology at Canisius College in Buffalo, New York. My areas of expertise are school psychology and children with emotional or behavioral problems. I formerly was the clinical director of an intervention program for preschoolers and also a supervising psychologist at Children's Hospital of Buffalo.
This page serves as the entry point for resources I use in my teaching or professional work. I make extensive use of online collaborative software. In addition, I encourage my students, especially those minoring in school psychology, to maintain an electronic portfolio through a PLL. Each of these is briefly discussed here and can be visited using the links above. Personal Learning Landscape (PLL). The department maintains a 'personal learning landscape' for its majors and I use it in my courses. It is a place where students can post their written assignments for the course and their personal learning experiences. The postings can include file attachments and links to web sites. Blog postings are like journals and each is stored by date and category. Students can write about anything they have learned that has particular relevance for them. In doing so, they share their learning with those students who come after them. Learning is best when it is collaborative and collective.
The Psychology Department also has a wiki site. Links to my personal wiki and that of the department are at the top of this page. All students are encouraged to make their own personal wiki page on the department site. The ProfBayer wiki is intended only for students who are either in my classes or minoring in school psychology.
WNYSPA. WNYSPA is the professional association for local school psychologists (Western New York School Psychologists Association). I am the administrator for their website. At this time the site is operational but not used often.
